Happy Valentine's & Friendship Day!

Hi everyone! It's Liyana! Valentine's Day is a holiday that people celebrate on the 14th of February <333 On this day, people celebrate love by showing appreciation and affection to one another. They send gifts, letters and spend time with their loved ones, family and friends.


Here are some fun activities you can do with your little ones on this very special day!


1. Heart Buddies!

(Very easy 3 step craft)

Materials Needed:

  • Card stock

  • Pipe cleaners

  • Googly eyes

  • Markers

  • Glue

  • Scissors


Steps:

  • Cut a heart from the card stock.

  • Paste pipe cleaners from the hands and legs, and googly eyes and you’re done!




2. Heart Suncatchers

(Fine motor skills)


Materials needed:

  • Clear contact paper/ plastic folders/ self-adhesive laminating sheets

  • Coloured tissue papers

  • Black cardstock or coloured paper

  • Glue

  • Scissors


Steps:

  • Cut up the tissue paper into small squares

  • Trace out a heart outline on the black cardstock and place them on the clear contact paper/ plastic folder/ self-adhesive laminating sheet

  • Cut out the remaining plastic

  • Paste on the coloured tissue papers and let it shine in the sun!



3. Handprint Valentine Flower Craft

(For little ones that can write/ learning to write)



Steps:

  • Paint your child’s hands using washable paint and gently press their hands on white paper to make a print. Let it dry.

  • Once dry, cut them up. Children can write a little note of appreciation at the back of it.

  • Make stems for each flower using green paper and create a vase for the flowers and glue it down to the paper.

  • Decorate the craft as you wish!


4. Picture Frame Valentines Gift


Materials needed:

  • Ice cream sticks

  • Pom pom

  • Stickers

  • Coloured paper

  • Glue

  • Scissors

  • Photograph of loved ones


Steps:

  • Lay ice cream sticks on top of each other to form a square and glue them on.

  • Paste pom poms, stickers and other forms of decorations.

  • Lastly, cut the photograph to the size of the frame and glue it behind the photograph and you're done!


5. Heart Tree

(Collaborative work as a class)


Materials needed:

  • Coloured paper

  • Markers

  • Glue


Steps:

  • This can be a collaborative work in the classroom : )

  • Teacher can cut out a tree branch and place it in the classroom easy for children to access.

  • Cut out hearts and children can write nice notes to one another on them.

  • Place blue-tack behind the hearts and place it along the tree branch.
